Description

Your favorite little girl deserves only the best. Thrill her with the Cristina Ballerina Jewelry Box, a charming piece that's just right for holding her most precious treasures. Constructed of extra hard cardboard, this jewelry box features a fashion paper overlay in shades of delicate pink and white with a floral/ ballet design. Open the top to reveal a mirrored interior along with two storage compartments; the box chimes out a musical rendition of "Waltz of the Flowers" when the lid is lifted.

 

The front of this jewelry box features four small drawers ideal for keepsakes on the left hand side. The right side has a door which opens to reveal a necklace carousel inside. Decorative silver-tone metal hardware completes the look.

 

About Mele
Emidio Mele, an Italian immigrant to the United States, came to New York City in 1896 and learned to make jewelry boxes as an apprentice before founding Mele Manufacturing in 1912. He began by designing and building elegant displays for jewelry store windows. His jewelry box making business grew throughout the 1900s, responding to demands for boxes to hold Purple Hearts during WWII and developing as a popular household name for quality jewelry boxes. Today Mele Jewelry Box is known as the Mele Companies, which encompass various divisions under the Mele name. Now based in Utica, N.Y., Mele still upholds the family atmosphere on which it was founded and remains America's foremost name in jewelry cases.

I am very surprised at all the positive reviews. I bought this because of many positive reviews and because it said 'solid wood construction'. It is NOT solid wood, but solid PARTICLE BOARD. I wanted a beautiful jewelry box that my daughter would treasure forever and this was a HUGE disappointment. Very cheaply made and very cheap laminate 'sticker' covering. Ballerina even sticks and i read that on another review too that thought hers would be the only one.

I am sending mine back. Good if you want something for your daughter to play with, but I want one she'll treasure for years and this is not it. I realize I'll have to pay a lot more for solid wood construction, but it will be worth it.

My granddaughter feel in love with the jewelry box the second she saw it. Unfortunatley within an hour the small screws that connected the lid to the base had pulled out. There was no way that this could be fixed, so the box had to be sent back. This broke her heart!!!!! There has to be a better way to connect the lid to the base,thus making this an excellent gift.
